For Canadian psychologists who've been waiting for a PIPEDA compliant AI report writing tool, the wait is over.
Psynth Is Now PIPEDA Compliant: Secure AI Report Writing for Canadian Psychologists
Canadian psychologists face a unique challenge when adopting AI tools: the software has to work brilliantly and meet Canada's strict privacy standards. Today, we're proud to announce that Psynth is officially PIPEDA compliant and that all Canadian patient health information is stored exclusively on servers located within Canada — making Psynth one of the only AI-powered psychological report writing platforms purpose-built for both US and Canadian clinical standards.
You can review our full compliance documentation, certifications, and security posture at any time through our Trust Center.
What This Means for Canadian Psychologists
The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) is Canada's federal privacy law governing how private-sector organizations collect, use, and disclose personal information. For psychologists, this matters because every report you generate contains highly sensitive patient data — assessment scores, clinical observations, diagnostic findings, and personal health information (PHI).
Until now, many Canadian psychologists have been hesitant to adopt AI report writing tools because of uncertainty around data privacy, compliance, and where their patients' data actually lives. With PIPEDA compliance and Canadian data residency now in place, Psynth removes those barriers entirely.
Why Compliance Was a Priority for Us
Psynth was built from the ground up with clinical trust in mind. We've always been HIPAA compliant for our US-based users and FERPA compliant for educational institutions. Achieving PIPEDA compliance and Canadian data residency was a natural next step as we expand to serve psychologists across Canada.
We believe compliance shouldn't be something you have to take a vendor's word for. That's why our certifications, data processing policies, subprocessors, and security controls are documented transparently in our Trust Center.
How Psynth Protects Canadian Patient Data
PIPEDA compliance isn't just a checkbox for us. Here's what it means in practice for your clinical workflow.
Zero-retention AI models. No patient data used in report generation is stored, cached, or used to train our models. Your patient information never leaves the secure processing environment.
Encrypted infrastructure and Canadian data residency. All data is encrypted using AWS services that meet or exceed both HIPAA and PIPEDA security requirements. Critically, Canadian PHI is stored exclusively on servers located within Canada — meaning your patient data never crosses the border.
Data ownership stays with you. You maintain 100% ownership and control over all information processed on the platform. Psynth never shares or sells patient data.
Consent-aligned data handling. Under PIPEDA, meaningful consent is required before patient data can be collected or used. Psynth's workflow is designed to ensure your practice stays fully aligned with this principle.

A Note on Provincial Privacy Laws
Psychologists in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia may also be subject to provincial health privacy laws — PHIPA, HIA, and PIPA respectively. These laws are generally considered "substantially similar" to PIPEDA. If you practice in one of these provinces, we encourage you to review our Data Processing Agreement and privacy documentation in the Trust Center. Our Canadian data residency guarantee means your PHI stays in Canada — full stop — regardless of which province you practice in. That said, we always recommend consulting with your regulatory body or legal counsel if you have specific provincial compliance questions.
Who This Is For
If you're a clinical psychologist in Canada who writes psychological assessment reports Psynth was built for you. Our platform transforms test results, intake data, and clinical observations into complete, high-quality diagnostic report drafts in under 45 minutes, while keeping your practice fully compliant with Canadian privacy law.
PIPEDA compliance, Canadian data residency, and our zero-retention AI model mean you can adopt Psynth with confidence, knowing your patients' data is protected to the standard Canadian law demands.
